Mozilla is an open-source community in which thousands of people, mostly volunteers, collectively develop free products. It has been developing Firefox 3 for nearly three years and the testing for the same was carried out on different operating systems since November 2007.
Mozilla Firefox 3 is expecting to set a world record of most software downloads in a 24-hour period. It is scheduled to release on Tuesday, 17th June 2008.
Some of the key features of Firefox 3 include:
[i] Keywords or Tags can be added to sort out bookmarks.
[ii] The newly introduced “Places” feature allows users to visit their recently visited websites independent of weather they are bookmarked or tagged or not.
[iii] Ability to resume downloads midway if connection is interrupted.
[iv] Updated password manager which does not disrupt the log-in process.
[v] The Back button is larger than the Forward button as people tend to visit previous pages more often.
[vi] Blocking phishing websites rather than just warning about them.Added protection from sites known to distribute viruses and other malwares.
[vii] Yahoo mail service can set to be launched on clicking the “Mail to” link on any web page.Google’s Gmail and Microsoft’s Hotmail are expected to allow this feature soon.
