MacBook Air had all of us gazing at it but now Toshiba Digital products have unveiled a laptop weighing 2.4 pounds and claiming it to be the world’s Lightest laptop with a 128 GB SSD and a DVD SuperMulti Drive. The Portégé R500-S5007V is also said to be one of the World’s thinnest laptops equipped with a SSD and a DVD SuperMulti Drive.

The addition of a Solid State Drive(SSD) into the Portégé laptop series is going to be a great step as a competition to the world’s thinnest laptop,The MacBook Air.

Toshiba is the First Company to equipe an 128GB SSD with a laptop, which is a major accomplishment for the company and it also makes us aware of its interest in satisfying its customers to its fullest and delivering the same. The Portégé R500-S5007V is equipped with seven first-time-technologies and is set to redefine the ultraportable marketplace with its “Green” attributes.

To reduce the thickness of this laptop,it is bundled with a 128GB SSD which is the industry’s largest capacity in SSD’s.Also the slimness is reduced by incorporating a thin 7mm DVD SuperMultiDrive. The Portégé R500 has the world’s first wide-screen 12.1-inch transreflective LED backlit display which allows it to be used in any lighting conditions including direct sunlight.Toshiba’s proprietary High Density Mounting Technology produces a motherboard that is one-third the size of a mainstream 15.4-inch notebook’s motherboard but still provides the users with the same functions.
