The author seems to be lumping nerds and geeks together.
Nerds are very intelligent in many fields, limited social social skills and no sense of fashion. Introverted and generally only interested in practical complex interests. Evolution of Nerd, Bill Gates. Hates I-products.

Geeks are average intelligence, well developed social skills and a unique sense of fashion that can be seen in hipster culture. Extroverted, they are known for obsessed in obscure interests like comics books, star track and music. Evolution of Geek, Seth Green. Love I-products.
