Samsung Wave : Complete Phone Review
| Advertisements | |
Recently I attended the Samsung Bloggers Meet in Mumbai where I got a chance to have a hands-on feel of the Samsung Wave S8500 mobile phone. I think it would be an understatement to call it a Mobile phone, its rather a “Smart Phone”. As far as I can think of, it satisfies all the needs of any Smart Phone user and there is no reason why it must not be bought. I am writing a Samsung Wave review for you guys here, so that you get a complete idea of what makes it so cool!

Let us get into the Hardware details.

Samsung Wave Features
Samsung Wave is undoubtedly a feature packed phone. I get a feeling, that it took the Samsung guys a lot of work to think over so that they do not miss out of any feature which is built in a Smart phone. I wouldn’t really compare it with HTC Desire, but its really good!
Let me list a few cool features which drove me crazy!
- The Super AMOLED screen is just so clear! It can be viewed clearly even in direct sunlight.
- The multi-touch capacitive screen is a pleasure to work with and its highly accurate. Typing is such a ease with SWYPE application.
- Being a one-piece hardware, its strong and good to hold.
- The built in Social Networking App works great and integrates all the major Social Networks like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace etc. You can synchronize the Phonebook contacts with their Social Networking profiles also to get their updates!
- The Social Networking Profiles of your Contacts are updated on your Phone after every one hour!
- HD recording and playback features are really amazing and the quality of pictures is just mind blowing.
- BADA OS is a revolution with a host of Apps available for its first phone itself.
- Playing games is so much fun. The phone is very sensitive in this case!
Samsung Wave Price
Samsung Wave is a feature packed Good-Looking phone and costs about 18,000 INR. I have been waiting to buy this phone since I first saw it. (accumulating resources!!)
Downsides of Samsung Wave
Even though there are not many things in this section, let me mention a notable few:
- The Screen size could have been a little bit bigger.
- Even though the 1500mAh Battery is enough for a rough one-day use, more would have been appreciated!
- Resizing of widgets is not allowed.
- Log-off button is not available in Twitter and Facebook Apps. You need to delete the account from the Accounts section to log-off. You can use the same account again!
Verdict
I must be crazy if I say don’t buy this phone. This is among the best feature packed phone available in the market and the BADA OS is really worth using. You surely got to buy this one at DialAPhone.

Hardware specs are too similar to Google Nexus and Desire and the price is also less as compared. Only thing new to me is BADA OS, Will have to check interface and working in videos to get details.
Nicely reviewed covering all points and a video would have been appreciated in the article itself.

@Avi Singh: BADA OS is the OS created by Samsung. It is very similar to Android OS, but not exactly Same. It has about 50,000 apps already created and There is a developer challenge worth 2.7 million $ which will attract a lot more apps. So if you want to buy it, you wont ever regret your decision!

If Samsung has improved its product quality, then it’s definitely worth a buy. For now, my bad experiences with Samsung products has an hang-over on me. Will, wait, watch and then see if it’s worth the salt.

Nice review, But don’t Like Samsung Mobile personally.
I’m great fan of apps and samsung mobile is not good for apps. Many popular apps are not supported by samsung mobile.

@Navin: Try the BADA OS, and then compare it with Android. Even agree that Android is better but BADA will catch up fast!

Nice review, but I still think either the HTC Desire or new iPhone would be a better choice. A comparison of features and specs would be useful.
