It is known for long that Apple iDevices do not support Flash video and other Flash content. Flash Content is not visible on iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone which is a deeply criticized issue. Now, Toshiba has used this disability of Apple to market its new Android Tablet.
Toshiba is trying to attract the iOS users by making it very clear that the ‘Flash Disability’ is a big issue. They have actually created their official website in Flash and mentioned it clearly that they can play Flash Content. When iDevices try to open this website, Toshiba displays a message “Such a Shame“. On top of this, they describe it in detail to make it very clear that it is an attack on Apple. It reads, “Add this to the list of interesting places on the Internet you can’t see on your device. Of course, if you had a Toshiba Tablet, you would enjoy the entire Internet. Yep, Flash sites too.”
I personally think that this is a clear case of a company (here Toshiba) using “Taunting” as a method to degrade a reputation of other Company (here Apple). Even though they have not used used any actual names, this seems to be a dirty tactic. Don’t know whether it will work in Toshiba’s favor. (Toshiba had earlier tried to compete with Apple over the MacBook Air, creating the Lightest Laptop)
Now considering the launch of this Toshiba Tablet, it is expected in Spring. By then, a lot more Android Tablets would have come in the market. Also, iPad 2 is expected in February 2011. The pricing has not yet being revealed, but I am sure it will face a stiff competition from other Android Tablets (and also from the iPad)
