iOS 5 and Apple iPad 2 with Thunderbolt technology likely to be showcased today

We got our hands on a few more rumours regarding today’s Apple event. In the last post we told you about the USB functionality in the iPad 2 and also about iOS 5.

Through our sources, we also came to know that the mysterious pin on the iPad 2 is expected to be for the Thunderbolt technology (and not the USB). Thunderbolt I/O technology gives you two channels on the same connector with 10 Gbps of throughput in both directions. (It is also compatible with a wide varieties of High Resolution displays)

It is expected that Apple with show some glimpses of iOS 5 today. iOS 5 is expected to arrive with API support for USB (refer to the iOS 5 leaked screenshot) I am just not sure whether we will get a surprise package of iOS 5 bundled with the iPhone 5 today.

I know all of us are getting excited to see what Apple is going to announce today but we just got to wait and watch!

I think Thunderbolt will be added to the next version of iPad (iPad 3). The idea of faster syncing seems very exciting but I think Apple will first update the MAC with Thunderbolt. Thanks for sharing.
