iPhone 5 goes up on Pre-Order in China even before the announcement of its release date

Even though there have been a lot of rumored leaked photos of the iPhone 5, there are no signs of iPhone 5 making its appearance anytime soon. But, the news that comes from Daum Media shocks us.

Reports have been coming that Online retailers and some local retailers too have started taking pre-orders for iPhone 5 in China. “Alibaba China’s subsidiary, TaoBao has put the iPhone 5 for pre-order”, according to Reuters.

Some sellers at Malls in China are asking for a deposit of 1000 yuan for pre-orders while some are asking for a complete pre-payment of 6999 yuan for getting the first-priority of the iPhone 5 ownership in China.

The current price of iPhone 4S 64GB model is around 5500 yuan mark while the retailers are charging exorbitant rates to bank on the fanboy-ism which the Apple iPhone has created in China. One of the sellers at TaoBao Marketplace said that he already had taken 24 pre-orders for iPhone 5 in about a weeks time!

The Chinese retailers claim that they will import the iPhone 5 from the USA or Hong Kong once its launched there and sell it in China by charging a premium for making it available in the country before its launched. If this wasn’t enough, people are trying to find out the true dimensions of the iPhone 5 so that they can create molds for iPhone 5 Cases.

    Seems a little dodgy to me, I doubt they would have the ability to guarantee pre-orders at this stage. Will be interesting to see what happens on launch date in America, and whether Apple deny the ability to ship internationally right away.

    I have seen some pictures of the pre -suppose i phone 5, its quite awesome and i look forward to having one as well. China is arguably the economic giant of the world, hence its quite easy to see why they can afford to pre-order. i hope the phone comes out this month
